Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 18, 2011 <br />Page 6 of 7 <br /> <br />The other commissioners agreed. <br />Lewis recommended HPC move forward on the Commercial Incentives so the voters <br />can see benefits of the program. <br />Fasick inquired if there needs to be money banked preempting the end of the program. <br />The HPC thought that was a good question. <br />Lewis asked if some of the funds could be invested. <br />Tofte asked what the next steps would be for the commercial incentives. <br />Stewart recommended the commercial incentives be added to the next agenda. <br />Lewis inquired if an expert should be brought in on how to use the voter approved <br />funding. <br />McCartney suggested a preservation master plan be developed which would include the <br />creation of a priority list of expenditures. <br />Lewis stated the money needs careful tracking and ideas on what to do with it. <br />McCartney stated he can check into bringing in an expert regarding the financing. <br />Stewart stated it would be good to show annual income, expected expenditures and <br />expected landmarking projects. <br />Koertje recommended the investigation of the costs for various going on around town. <br />Lewis added it could be a cost per square footage number. <br />Stewart recommended staff to ask Bonnie Star for some suggestions. <br />Fasick suggested other municipalities be research as to which have grant caps. <br />Update/Discussion/Action – Austin Niehoff <br />Stewart recommended staff t bring in the items which would be included in a future <br />HSA. <br />Committee Reports – none <br />Update on Demolition Requests - <br />McCartney explained how the demolition permits for both 633 Jefferson Avenue and <br />224 Roosevelt Avenue were released at subcommittee due to lack of architectural <br />integrity. <br />Discussion/Comments on Planning Department Referrals – none <br />Updates – none <br />Items from Staff – Budget <br />Stewart recommended the budget be added to the next meeting agenda for a <br />discussion as to how the HPF could be used. <br />Items from Commission Members – Social Media/Plaques <br />Lewis mentioned her interest in putting the HPC on Facebook. <br />Speier mentioned he would like to get a plaque made for the Rex Theater explaining how <br />the project was paid for through grant funds. <br />Discussion Items for Next Meeting – <br /> August 15, 2011 – <br /> <br />
