The letter was distributed with the meeting agenda. It proposes
“…an immediate MORATORIUM on the planting of any genetically modified crops on PUBLICLY
OWNED land in Boulder County, (and a ban on any future GM crops or other GMOs on those
lands until theyare conclusively PROVEN by long-term, exhaustive, independent studies to
POSE NO HARM to environments, people, and communities.)
Mark asks Annie what she would like to see from LSAB. Annie says LSAB should support the
ban of GMOs on City of Boulder landsand extend the ban to City of Louisville lands. After some
discussion among the board members, Arno suggest to address the issue like the City Council
does and have first a study session with input from experts before LSAB makes a decision.
Dave Clabots points out that the Open Space Advisory Board (OSAB) and the Horticulture and
Forestry Advisory Board (HFAB) should be involved in the issue and that City Forester Chris
Lichty should be consulted. Andy asks how the GMO issue fits with the strategic LSAB goals.
Arno proposes to convene a joint meeting of the three boards with experts to study the issue.
th
Annie agrees and will report at the next meeting on October 19about progress towards such a
joint meeting.
VII.Follow-up on Tour of Sustainable Homes (TOSH)
Andy reviews the TOSH preparations and pleads for additional volunteers. Mark will provide tables for the registration area at the
Steinbaugh pavilion. Ted asks Bev to bring a suitcase of light bulbs, showerheads etc. to the
EnergySmart table.
City of Louisville
Public Works Department749 Main StreetLouisville, CO 80027
303.335.4608 (phone) 303.335.4550 (fax) www.LouisvilleCo.gov
