Historical Commission Meeting Minutes September 21, 2011 Louisville Public Library Meeting Room 951 Spruce Street 6:30 p.m. I. Call to Order : Commission Chair Dan Mellish called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. II. Roll Call: Commission Members Present : Dan Mellish. Dave Ferguson, Pat Seader, Sally Burlingame, Anne Robinson, Sean Moynihan, Lynn Koglin, Brian Chamberlin, Jennifer Strand. Commission Members Absent: Diane Marino City Representatives Present: Beth Barrett, Directory of Library & Museum Services Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator Members of the Public Present: Jean Morgan III. Approval of Agenda: Members approved the agenda. IV. Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda: Jean Morgan requested that the Commission discuss the City’s antique safe at an upcoming meeting. She explained that it used to be at City Hall, before that building was remodeled, and she stated that she recently went over to City Shops on Empire Road and viewed it. She suggested that it be restored and placed back into public view and expressed concern that it might become damaged. Chair Dan Mellish stated that he would support the Commission having a discussion about the safe. V. Meeting as Advisory Board for the City of Louisville A. Approval of July 2011 and August 2011 Meeting Minutes: Members approved the minutes. B. Report from the Director of Library and Museum Services: Beth Barrett reported that the new City sign for the Museum is coming, but there is no specific date projected at this time. The City has recently completed significant maintenance upgrades including weather treating the roof shingles on the four buildings, moving water pipes to protect them from freezing, remodeling the bathroom, and replacing the back door in the Jacoe Store. On The Same Page events continue and have been well attended. Bridget Bacon has a new exhibit in the lobby of the Library about Louisville during the Depression. C. Museum Coordinator’s Report: Approval of Deeds of Gifts from donors 1.. The Commission voted to accept these gifts: a. From Larry Boven who is involved with the Methodist Church, a binder from 1968 that shows church membership. b. From Barbara Stahr, items from the Thomas family, school items and mine ledgers.
