Memorandum
To: Historical Commission
From: Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator
Date: October 11, 2011
Re: Museum Coordinator’s Report
The tentative date for the City Council’s 2012 study session with the Historical Commission
is Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at 7 PM.
Over 60 second graders from Coal Creek Elementary toured the Museum this month. Four
classes from Louisville Elementary are scheduled to tour the Museum later in the month,
along with a group from Balfour.
th
On October 4, the bimonthly Brown Bag program was about “Family Stories of the
Depression” in order to tie in with the Library’s book reading program, On the Same Page.
The History Book Club has started to have regular monthly meetings again, now that the
summer is over. The next Louisville Historian will have a piece by Anne Robinson giving the
upcoming topics and dates.
th
Thank you to the Commission for organizing the 25 anniversary reception for the Museum.
Jennifer Strand will be extending public thank yous in the next Louisville Historian.
Maggie Snyder’s participation in the anniversary reception resulted in a donation by Wayne
Lee of $40 to the Commission, based on the number of copies of the book Louisville: At
Home in a Small Town that were sold on that occasion.
The new Business Sponsor application form is now up on the Museum’s website.
Louisville’s Home Tour is on hold for the 2011 holiday season due to the Museum and
Commission’s need for a City volunteer who would be able to take on the overall
organization of the event, but December is likely to provide several opportunities for
interested Commission members to go on home tours in other communities in order to find
out what tour features work particularly well. If any Commission members would like to
investigate and list which tours are scheduled, or go on one of the tours with the goal of
reporting back, please let me know.
Museum Visitors Report (these statistics represent visits to the Museum itself, and not inquiries
September visitors: 321; YTD visitors: 1032.
that come in by email or phone):
