He recommended an architect <br />be brought in to look at significant features and materials prior to any exterior <br />improvements in the future. <br />Szabados stated the original siding is located underneath the asbestos siding. <br />Stewart stated the HPC would recommend a structural assessment be completed prior <br />to any capital changes. <br /> <br />Speier asked if there were any future plans for the building. <br />Szabados stated there weren’t any immediate plans. It will remain as a Parks and <br />Recreation office building. <br />Stewart stated he is encouraged the City is willing to put capital monies in to fix this <br />structure. He strongly recommends the City do a structural assessment and mentioned <br />the state has additional funding available for the structural assessment. <br />Koertje asked what the cost of a structural assessment would be. <br />Stewart answered the states awards up to $15,000 for structural assessments. <br />Koertje stated the structural assessment should get underway as soon as possible. <br />Poppitz stated the stone foundation could be sprayed on the inside to stabilize it. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGDemolition - 500 Pine Street <br /> – <br />McCartney presented. <br />The applicant, Brandt and Michelle Slivken, presented their two (2) potential approaches: <br /> <br /> Lift the structure in place and build a new foundation <br /> <br /> Demo the existing structure and rebuild <br />Brandt also stated the foundation is bad, the plumbing and electrical need to be upgraded, and <br />they are interested in having design assistance. <br />Tofte asked if the applicant has received any bids to complete the proposed work. <br />Michele answered in the affirmatives. It will be $13,000 to lift the house and the foundation <br />work is additional. The foundation work will be approximately $35,000 to $40,000. <br />Speier stated his experience with this type of work and all that needs to be done. <br />Lewis offered her services in reviewing any bids or providing additional alternatives. <br />Tofte added there are other homeowners in town who have done this work and some might be <br />able to offer suggestions. <br /> <br />
