Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />September 19, 2011 <br />Page 2 of 6 <br /> <br />McCartney confirmed. <br />Lewis inquired if painting was included. <br />McCartney confirmed. <br />Public Comments – none heard <br />Commission Comments <br />Koertje inquired if painting was for the new porch or the existing. <br />McCartney stated he would confirm with the applicant. <br />Lewis made a motion and Koertje seconded the motion to approve as presented. <br />Koertje asked for a friendly amendment to put a 180 day stay on the permit, based on the <br />review criteria established for demolitions. <br />Name Vote <br />Mike Koertje Yes <br />Heather Lewis Yes <br />Jessica Fasick Yes <br />Florian Speier excused <br />Laurel Tofte absent <br />Peter Stewart Yes <br />Steve Poppitz absent <br />Motion passed: 4 to 0 <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGWindows Demolition – 921 Main Street <br /> – <br />McCartney presented the packet material. <br />Eric Tussey, applicant, presented the following: <br /> <br /> Windows do not provide adequate insulation in winter <br /> <br /> Checked with Phoenix Restoration about restoring windows and it would be very <br />expensive. <br /> <br /> Will retain the windows to be used elsewhere – maybe as a design element. <br /> <br /> The windows are a major maintenance issue <br /> <br /> They (the applicants) are not interested in landmarking and do not need the money. <br /> <br /> Their window contractor is Renewal by Anderson, a company with a lot of experience in <br />working on historical homes. <br />Koertje stated the cost of repair is one thing the HPC considers in releasing the demo permit. <br /> <br />
