<br />f?L~@[%@u <br /> <br />City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 2, 2007 <br />Page 4 of 9 <br /> <br />PRESENTATION - NORTHWI:ST RAIL ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT (US <br />~~6 RAIL CORRIDOR) <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a presentation. <br /> <br />Chris Quinn from RTD FasTracks presented the environmental assessment <br />planned for the Northwest Rail Corridor. The Northwest Rail Corridor is a <br />proposed 41-mile commuter rail corridor from Denver Union Station to Longmont <br />via Boulder, passing through Adams County, Westminster, Broomfield, Louisville, <br />Boulder, and Longmont. After voter approval of FasTracks, it was determined <br />there was funding available to separate the US 36 Rail Corridor from the project. <br />Due to the high cost of construction materials, RTD is proposing cost reduction <br />measures. Public meetings have been scheduled in 2007. Meetings have been <br />scheduled in Boulder and Lon!~mont. In 2008 additional public meetings are <br />proposed and the design documents are scheduled to be 50% complete. In <br />2009 and 2010, the final design, and negotiations for railroad right-of-ways for <br />the stations are scheduled for completion. Construction is scheduled between <br />2011 and 2014, and in 2015, the rail corridor will be open for business. <br /> <br />Council member Marsella askl3d, in consideration of the cost containment <br />measures associated with the 64th & Arapahoe Station, would the ridership <br />models include parking modifications. Mr. Quinn confirmed the models would be <br />re-evaluated as it relates to parking. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk asked if there are funds to provide for roadway improvements. He <br />stressed the importance of residents getting to the station and noted the traffic <br />along South Boulder Road will increase. <br /> <br />Mr. Quinn stated funds are available for roadway improvements in related areas <br />around the rail stations and at some individual grade separations. He stated, at <br />this time, the impact of the crossing at the intersection of Highway 42 and Main <br />Street does not include funding for a grade separation. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk stated the increasl3 in traffic along South Boulder Road will require <br />roadway improvements and asked the issue be given top priority. <br /> <br />Interim City Manager Balser stated information about the public meetings is <br />posted on the City's Web Site.. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION - 2006 COMPREHENSIVE ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br />
