<br />City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 2, 2007 <br />Page 6 of 9 <br /> <br />The Planning Commission reviiewed the proposal and expressed concern over <br />the parking issue. The applicant has stated the owner has designated <br />approximately 11 parking spaces for the applicant to use. According to the <br />Louisville Municipal Code, because the unit is to be used as a school, they would <br />need approximately 17 parkin~J spaces. The applicant stated most of the <br />students are from out of state and do not own vehicles. They either use mass <br />transit to get to the school or ride bikes. The school provides RTD bus passes as <br />part of their enrollment and has agreed to provide a bike rack at the new location. <br />The hours of operation will remain the same as what they are at the 608 Main <br />Street location. <br /> <br />!Ji~@!%&u <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested an Applicant presentation. <br /> <br />Hilary Skellon, representing the Institute for Taoist Education and Acupuncture, <br />Inc., explained the school originated in Boulder and moved to Louisville. The <br />program has now expanded to provide a Master's Degree in Acupuncture. <br /> <br />COUNCIL COMMENT <br /> <br />Council member Clabots reported visiting the school after suffering injuries from <br />a car accident. <br /> <br />MOTION: Council member Clabots moved to approve Resolution No. 32, Series <br />2007, seconded by Council member Marsella. All in favor. Absent: Mayor Pro <br />Tem Brown and Council member Sackett. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION No. 33, SEIRIES 2007 - A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN <br />AMENDED SPECIAL REVIEW USE TO AUTHORIZE AN AMENDMENT TO <br />THE EXISTING MONTESSORI SCHOOL AT 733 JEFFERSON AVENUE <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Principal Planner McCartney Hxplained the.applicant, Shannon Ryland, is <br />requesting a special review use amendment to allow for a total of 30 students to <br />be located at 733 Jefferson Avenue. Currently the Fairview Montessori School is <br />permitted to have 43 students, utilizing 741 Jefferson Avenue (Methodist Church <br />Fellowship Hall) and 733 Jefferson Avenue for the Montessori school purposes. <br />This property is located in the Old Town Overlay District and is zoned RL. <br /> <br />The applicant proposes to vacate the use of 741 Jefferson Avenue, to locate <br />entirely to 733 Jefferson Avenue with a total of 30 students. Currently they are <br />operating a total of 23 students in 733 Jefferson Avenue and 20 students in 741 <br />Jefferson Avenue. This request decreases the number of students. The <br />applicant proposes a 350 square foot addition to the structure at 733 Jefferson <br />Street to accommodate the additional 7 students. The addition will be located on <br />
