<br />[JJL~@!%@U <br /> <br />City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />July 2, 2007 <br />Page 8 of 9 <br /> <br />PLACE SUBDIVISION IN TIHE CITY OF lOUISVlllE - FIRST READING - <br />SET PUBLIC HEARING FOR 7/17/07 <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a City Attorney introduction. <br /> <br />City Attorney Light introduced Ordinance No. 1523, Series 2007. <br /> <br />MOTION: Mayor Sisk moved 1[0 approve Ordinance No. 1523, Series 2007 on <br />first reading, send it out for publication and set a public hearing for July 17, 2007, <br />seconded by Council member Muckle. All in favor. Absent: Mayor Pro Tem <br />Brown and Council member Sackett. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION/DIRECTION - SHOP lOUISVlllE PROPOSALS <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Community Facilitator Muth explained City Council directed staff to put out a <br />Request for Proposals for a 3-5 year Shop Louisville Marketing Campaign. Six <br />proposals were received ranging from $15,000 to $135,000. The Business <br />Retention and Development Committee and Staff reviewed the proposals at their <br />July 2 meeting and recommended the City Council contract with ZVC for the <br />Shop Louisville Marketing Campaign for an amount not to exceed $20,000 for the <br />remainder of 2007. <br /> <br />Hank Dalton, Vice-Chair of BRaD, explained the committee does not expect this <br />program will increase sales tax, but will broaden citizen awareness of shopping in <br />Louisville. BRaD believes the ZVC proposal will demonstrate the City supports <br />existing local businesses and welcomes new businesses to Louisville. He noted <br />a BRaD subcommittee will deGide on a logo. <br /> <br />Council member Yarnell supported the proposal. She explained the BRaD <br />Committee intent is to lay the foundation to educate the residents to shop locally, <br />to support local businesses and attract new businesses to Louisville. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk asked what the City would gain by providing $20,000 as seed money <br />in the marketing program. Mr.. Dalton explained the bulk of the funds would be <br />for the development of the Shop Louisville Campaign, the Logo, and marketing. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk asked if there is a process for the local businesses to be a part of <br />program and make comments or suggestions. Mr. Dalton stated the Campaign <br />will reach out to the business community. He noted BRaD has always welcomed <br />the local businesses to their meetings. <br /> <br />MOTION: Council member Yarnell moved Council provide direction to Staff to <br />contract with ZVC for a Shop Louisville Campaign for an amount not to exceed <br />
