ORDINANCE NO. 551 AN ORDINANCE ~lliNDING ORDINANCE NO. 401, TITLE, 13, CHAPTER 13.04 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE WASTING OF WATER AND WATERING RESTRICTIONS. WHEREAS, water is a most valuable natural resource, and; WHEREAS, it is important that our water resources be conserved and not wasted; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: SECTION 1. Sections 13-1-16, 13-1-17 and 13-1-20 of the Louisville Municipal Code are hereby repealed. SECTION 2. The follow~ng sections are hereby added to Title 13 of the Louisville Municipal Code: Section 13-1-16. Hose and Nozzle Size. Consumers shall not use hose larger than three-fourths (3/4") of an inch in diameter, and sprinkling without a nozzle or from a nozzle or sprinkler with an opening larger than three-sixteenths (3/16") of an inch is strictly prohibited. Any violation of this section shall constitute wasting water. Section 13-1-17. Waste of Water Prohibited. Wasting of water is prohibited. Consumers shall prevent un- nessary waste of water and kl:ep all water outlets closed when not in actual use. Hydrants, urinals, water closets, bath tubs, and other openings must not be left running for any purpose other than the use for which they were intended. Allowing water to continually run down a gutter and/or washing a vehicle on a city street shall be prima facie evidence of wasting water. Section 13-1-20. Watering Restrictions. In case of water shortage or scarcity, the Mayor may by execu- tive order, place any restrictions which he deems necessary upon the use of water for irrigation or sprinkling purposes. No person or legal entity shall water or irrigate at any time prohibited by the Mayor's order. SECTION 3. The Council finds this Ordinance is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health and public safety and determines that it shall take effect immediately upon its final passage and publication.
