<br />ORDINANCE NO. 551 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ~lliNDING ORDINANCE NO. 401, <br />TITLE, 13, CHAPTER 13.04 OF THE LOUISVILLE <br />MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE WASTING OF <br />WATER AND WATERING RESTRICTIONS. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, water is a most valuable natural resource, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is important that our water resources be <br /> <br />conserved and not wasted; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LOUISVILLE, COLORADO: <br />SECTION 1. Sections 13-1-16, 13-1-17 and 13-1-20 <br /> <br />of the Louisville Municipal Code are hereby repealed. <br />SECTION 2. The follow~ng sections are hereby added to Title <br />13 of the Louisville Municipal Code: <br />Section 13-1-16. Hose and Nozzle Size. <br /> <br />Consumers shall not use hose larger than three-fourths (3/4") <br />of an inch in diameter, and sprinkling without a nozzle or from a <br />nozzle or sprinkler with an opening larger than three-sixteenths <br />(3/16") of an inch is strictly prohibited. Any violation of this <br />section shall constitute wasting water. <br /> <br />Section 13-1-17. Waste of Water Prohibited. <br /> <br />Wasting of water is prohibited. Consumers shall prevent un- <br />nessary waste of water and kl:ep all water outlets closed when not <br />in actual use. Hydrants, urinals, water closets, bath tubs, and <br />other openings must not be left running for any purpose other than <br />the use for which they were intended. Allowing water to continually <br />run down a gutter and/or washing a vehicle on a city street shall be <br />prima facie evidence of wasting water. <br /> <br />Section 13-1-20. Watering Restrictions. <br /> <br />In case of water shortage or scarcity, the Mayor may by execu- <br />tive order, place any restrictions which he deems necessary upon the <br />use of water for irrigation or sprinkling purposes. No person or <br />legal entity shall water or irrigate at any time prohibited by the <br />Mayor's order. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. The Council finds this Ordinance is necessary for <br />the immediate preservation of the public health and public safety <br />and determines that it shall take effect immediately upon its final <br /> <br />passage and publication. <br />
