<br />ORDINANCE NO. 561 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING VARIOUS CHAPTERS OF <br />TITLE 2 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE <br />PROVIDING FOR INCREASES IN THE SALARIES FOR <br />THE ELECTED OFFICIALS OF THE CITY OF LOUIS- <br />VILLE I COLOR1'l.DO <br /> <br />WHEREAS I the salaries of the elected officials of the City of <br />Louisville have remained constant for the most part over the last <br />four (4) years I and <br /> <br />WHEREAS I the work load and time required of the elected <br />officials of the City of Louisville has increased considerably over <br />the same period of time, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Louisville feels it is <br />in the best interest of the City to raise the salaries in order to <br />continue to attract qualified persons to seek the elected offices of <br />the City. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE I BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE I COLORADO AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 429, dealing with various sections <br /> <br />of Chapter 4 of the Louisville Municipal Code is hereby repealed 0 <br /> <br />SECTION 2. The following sections are hereby added to Chapter <br /> <br />4, Title 2 of the Louisville Municipal Code. <br /> <br />"4.2 Salaries of Council. Each councilman of the city shall <br />receive as full compensation for his services the sum of $1200.00 <br />per annum, payable in equal quarterly payments. <br /> <br />"4.4 Mayor - Duties - Salary. The mayor shall be the chief <br />executive officer of the city and conservator of the peace and shall <br />have such powers and p(~rform such duties as may be provided by law <br />or this Code. Each and every appointive officer of the city shall be <br />subject to the control and orders of the mayor. He shall have power <br />to appoint special police officers as he may deem necessary to preserve <br />good order and protect c:itizens or property in cases of emergency when <br />the council is not in session, but no appointment of such special police <br />shall be made for a longler time than to the date of the next regular <br />meeting of the council, and any and all such appointments shall be <br />made in writing, signed by the mayor and bear the seal of the city. <br />The mayor shall receive as full compensation for his services a <br />salary of $1500.00 per annum payable in equal quarterly payments. <br /> <br />"4.5 City Clerk - Salary - Bond. A city clerk shall be elected <br />at each general municipal election. The city clerk shall receive as <br />full compensation for his services as such clerk the sum of $11,400.00 <br />per annum, payable in equal monthly payments. Before entering upon <br />the duties of the office, the clerk shall furnish a surety bond to be <br />approved by council, in the amount of $10 I 000.00, conditioned upon <br />the faithful discharge of his duties as city clerk and that when he shall <br />vacata such office he will turn over and deliver to his successor all <br />remaining monies I books I papers, property or things belonging to the <br />city and remaining in his hands as such clerk. If the same person <br />shsmld serve as both city clerk and city collector, one surety bond in <br />the amount of $10,000.00 may be given to cover both positions or offices. <br />
