COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />FROM: MALCOLM FLEMING, CITY MANAGER <br />DATE: AUGUST 23, 2011 <br />SUBJECT: GOLF COURSE ADVISORY BOARD (GCAB) UPDATE <br />ORIGINATING DEPARTMENT: PARKS & RECREATION <br />SUMMARY: <br />Since its origination in June 2010, the Golf Course Advisory Board consisting of Ken Gambon, <br />Chairperson, Cary Tengler, Vice - chair, Tom Deany, Rob Lathrop, Perry Nelson, Lisa Norgard, <br />and Sandy Stewart have been working with Coal Creek golfers, surrounding residents, Western <br />Golf Properties' staff, and City staff to listen to golfer concerns, work on a strategic plan and <br />make recommendations and observations that GCAB would like to share with the City Council <br />on this their 3rd report over the past year. <br />GCAB is most appreciative of City Council's most recent support authorizing a Golf Course <br />Improvement Plan with Herfort Norby Golf Course Architects and providing opportunities for <br />GCAB to assist in the on -going evaluation and improvements of the Coal Creek Club House <br />with the Lodestone Design Group. GCAB is also anxious to learn more about hospitality firms <br />that might want to respond to an. RFP that could lead to the development of a hotel and <br />banquet facility at Coal Creek Golf Course. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />At the present time, there are no fiscal impacts associated with this report to City Council. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />The GCAB report is provided to City Council as an update to share information and to facilitate <br />discussion. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />GCAB Update to City Council presentation <br />1E, <br />SUBJECT AGENDA ITEM <br />GOLF COURSE ADVISORY BOARD I is <br />(GCAB) UPDATE <br />2 <br />
