Youth Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
10/6/11
Page 2of 3
How much to produce?Kriska-thinks it was approx.$164 to $200, for 75
copies
Eliza:Local Cause Fundraiser-find a local organization we could raise funds and
donate too?
Joi:Focusing on getting out name out, last year Hannah suggests business
cards...teens don’t really look at cards. We need to focus on getting our
name out.
Mandy: Parade of Lightswas a good way to get our name out last year
Katie:Musical performance?
Megan:Postcards book, secrets/stories sent in anonymously through postcards
and published into books. Could be interesting to do something similar,
but make it focused on Louisville, like things we love about Louisville--
Louisville focused, collection and distribution of postcards throughout city.
Collage book of and for Louisville’s youth.
Joi-what about a community graffiti/mural/collage project, like a wall somewhere
we could paint over.
Kriska: Teen listening room in library needs art, rest of public area covered
after library was built. A lot of blank walls.
Megan: Maybe a big metal sheet with poetry magnets
Daisy:More artistic ideas are sticking out to me. Maybe combine everything into
“What do you love about Louisville?”
Eliza:We need a way to sell them and be able to make a profit from our budget.
Megan:What’s our budget?
Mandy: We have about $1000 for trainings, uniforms, volunteer projects.
Could people pre-order? Maybe online vs hard copy or isthere more value
as something tangible?
Megan:Maybe something like the “Pigs in Louisville” book?
Mandy:Think of it as something reflective, of the 6th-12th grade youth of
Louisville. Would it be anonymous or non-anonymous? Maybe a drawing
or incentive for youth to participate?
Kriska:You can do something with kids, poems, a paragraph about thoughts on
Louisville...
Eliza:I think teens would be more willing to submit their thoughts if it was
anonymous.
Joi:(Legible) Handwriting would be more personal
Megan:Maybe looking into getting a sponsor from local businesses like The
Book Cellar
Kriska and Eliza:Making them ourselves would be more personal, also, and
more low cost
Mandy:They could drop them in boxes at the library, Rec Center or City Hall or
send the completed ones back to us.
Isabella:Postcard decorating for creativity and more involvement
Mandy:Maybe a big get-together “come eat pizza and decorate with us”
Bonnie:Best ones could be in color as title and others inside as black-and-white.
Daisy:We could put our name on the Chap Book and postcard booklet to get our
name out
