<br />CityCouncil <br />Study Session Summary <br />September 27, 2011 <br />Louisville Fire Station No. 1 <br />1240 Main Street <br />7:00 PM <br />The City Council of the City of Louisville met inajoint study session at 7:00 p.m. with <br />the Louisville Fire District at Fire Station No. 1 located at 1240 Main Street in Louisville, <br />Colorado. <br />The following persons were present – <br />City CouncilPresent:Staff Present: <br />Mayor Chuck SiskMalcolm Fleming, City Manager <br />Mayor Pro Tem Sheri MarsellaTroy Russ, Planning & Building Safety Director <br />Councilor Dave ClabotsMike Jones, Chief Building Official <br />Councilor Hank DaltonPolly Boyd, Executive Assistant <br />Councilor Bob Muckle <br />Councilor Ron Sackett <br />Councilor Frost Yarnell <br />Others Present: <br />Tim Parker, Chief LFD <br />LFD Board –David Yost, Chris Schmidt, Dan Ross, Terri Abbott and Wayne Varra <br />Update/Discussion –Louisville Fire District Presentation: <br />Fire Chief Tim Parker presented an update to the City Council. It has been a while since the <br />Fire District has updated the City with a presentation of this kind, butChief Parker does meet <br />with City Manager Fleming on a quarterly basis.The Chief’s powerpoint presentation <br />covered the Fire Rescue Operations including personnel, budgets, call load, response times, <br />2010/2011 accomplishments and the Fire Rescue Comprehensive Plan Summary and <br />Recommendations. <br />The Louisville Fire District is a volunteer organization with currently 63volunteers, with a <br />capacity for 75,and 9Career staff. The Fire District is supported solely through property <br />taxes with a $2.8M annual budget. Volunteers go through a year-long training program to <br />acquire the necessary qualifications and training to take on the responsibilities of a fire <br />fighter. Ongoing education is required annually to maintain certification. Each volunteer is <br />required to spend 12 hours/week in the fire station.
