<br />'" <br />'I <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 625 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 13.08.040 <br />OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE WHEREBY <br />THE CITY SHALL ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR <br />REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE OF WATER LINES <br />FROM THE CITY MAIN TO A METER OR CURB <br />BOX INSTALLED ON SAID LINE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the existing Ordinance makes the maintenance <br /> <br />and repair of water lines running from the city main, the sole <br /> <br />responsibility of the property owner being serviced by said line; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the city staff has recommended that the City <br /> <br />should be responsible for the repair and maintenance of the water <br /> <br />line between the city main and the attached meter or curb box. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE: <br /> <br />Section 1. Subsection CD) of Section 13.08.040, Title <br /> <br />13 of the Louisville Municipal Code is hereby repealed. <br /> <br />Section 2. The following subsection is hereby added <br /> <br />to Section 13.08.040, Chapter 13.08, Title 13 of the Louisville <br /> <br />Municipal Code: <br /> <br />D. The city shall be responsible for all main- <br /> <br />tenance and repairs to service pipes and fixtures <br /> <br />installed between the city main and the meter pit <br /> <br />or curb box, whichever is closer to the City water <br /> <br />main. All owners, at their own expense, shall be <br /> <br />responsible for the maintenance and repair of any <br /> <br />other section of service line upon said owner's <br /> <br />property. No claim shall be made against the city <br /> <br />on account of breaking of service pipes or apparatus <br /> <br />or for failure in the supply of water, and no <br /> <br />reduction in the rates will be made for any time <br /> <br />that service pipes or fixtures are frozen or are <br /> <br />not in proper working order. <br />
