<br />RESOLUTION NO. 7 <br /> <br />Series 1977 <br /> <br />WHEREAS I the people of the City and County of Denver in 1973 <br />approved the issuance of municipal bonds to fully finance the con- <br />struction of the 500 million gallon-per-day Foothills water treatment <br />complex southwest of Denver; and I <br /> <br />WHEREAS I the capacity of existing water treatment facilities <br />will be exceeded during periods of high usage I confronting nearly <br />half of the residents of the State of Colorado with treated water <br />shortages and compromises to their quality of life; and I <br /> <br />WHEREAS I such treated water shortages constitute a clear and <br />present danger to commerce and industry in the metropolitan Denver <br />area; and I <br /> <br />WHEREAS I more than $700 I 000 of water user funds are being <br />wasted through inflation by every month of unnecessary delay; and I <br /> <br />WHEREAS I the only impediment to immediate construction of <br />the facility is issuance of use permits and rights-of-way by the <br />U. S. Forest Service and U. S. Bureau of Land Management for rela- <br />tively small acreages in the public domain required for the complex I <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE I LET IT BE RESOLVED that the City of Louis- <br />ville endorses an immediate start of construction I and calls upon <br />the State of Colorado I the Colorado delegation in the United States <br />Congress and the Executive Branch of the United States Government <br />to do all things necessary to cause issuance of the necessary use <br />permits and rights-of-way. <br /> <br />Passed and adopted this 6th day of September I 1977. <br /> <br />~d) <br />Mayor <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> <br />~,<u~) '>>? ~-filf-<) <br />City Clerk <br />
