<br />the least obstruction to pedestrian traffic. <br /> <br />Section 3l-A-10 Riding on Sidewalks <br /> <br />(a) No person shall ride a bicycle upon a sidewalk <br />within a business district except upon sidewalks <br />designated as bicycle paths. <br /> <br />(b) When signs are erected on any sidewalk or street <br />which prohibit the riding of bicycles thereon by any per- <br />son, no person shall disobey such signs. <br /> <br />(c) Whenever a person is riding a bicycle upon a side- <br />walk, such person shall yield the right-of-way to any <br />pedestrian and shall give audible signal before over- <br />taking and passing such pedestrian. <br /> <br />Section 3l-A-ll License Required <br /> <br />No person shall ride or propel a bicycle on any street, <br />or upon any pub"lic path set aside for the exclusive use <br />of bicycles, unless such bicycle has been licensed <br />and the license plate attached thereto as provided here- <br />in. <br /> <br />Section 3l-A-12 License Application <br /> <br />Application for every bicycle license and license plate <br />sha 11 be made upon a form provi ded by the City and shall <br />be made to the Chief of Police. A license fee of fifty <br />cents shall be paid to the city before each license is <br />granted. No renewal of license shall be necessary <br />unless such license shall have been revoked or suspended <br />for violation of this chapter. <br /> <br />Section 3l-A-13 Issuance of License <br /> <br />(a) The Chief of Police upon receiving proper application <br />and payment of license fee therefor is authorized to <br />issue a bicycle license which shall be effective upon <br />issuance. <br /> <br />(b) The Chief of Police shall keep a record of the <br />number of each license, the date issued, the name and <br />address of the person to whom issued, and the number of <br />the frame of the bicycle for which issued, and a record <br />of all bicycle license fees collected by him. License <br />fees so collected shall be remitted monthly to the Clerk <br />or Treasurer, who shall give a receipt therefor. <br /> <br />Section 3l-A-14 Attachment of License Plate <br /> <br />(a) The Chief of Police, upon issuing a bicycle license, <br />shall also issue a license plate bearing the license <br />number assigned to the bicycle and the name of this city. <br /> <br />(b) The Chief of Police shall require such license <br />plate to be firmly attached to the rear mudguard or <br />frame of the bicycle for which it is issued in such <br />position as to be plainly visible from the rear. <br /> <br />-3- <br />
