Revitalization Commission
Agenda
November 14, 2011
Troy discussed the potential for municipal “off-premise” signage.
This would allow the city to control the sign regulations and
provide an equitable solution.
Emily- This is a great conversation. This should be an opportunity
to provide “place making” and give people directions. This is an
opportunity to identify character. The parking and wayfinding are
not separate.
Michael- I am in support of this action and support more signage
to direct patrons to all businesses. Agrees it is an opportunity to
encourage “place making”. This is a better solution than individual
signs for businesses. There should also be maps of parking at
businesses to help customers understand where parking is
located. The charge for signage should be minimal. The signage
should be pedestrian scale for the downtown.
Bonnie – Front Street and Main Street should have equal
consideration for signage and wayfinding.
Karl- The gateway of the community should be at a predictable
and easy locations. The signage should work for residents and
visitors.
Bob- The wayfinding should be more than signage in the long-
term. The first phase of the signage is a good step.
Rob - The ability to control signage will be critical in the first
phases. The signs should be adaptable and allow changes.
Mayor – The signage should be provided by the city to help
businesses at no cost. The signage downtown will be unique
compared to other areas of the city.
Linee Perroncel - Front Street business would benefit from
signage. There is currently not a difference of rent rates between
Front and Main. There is potential to coordinate with the newly-
formed arts groups on signage. The signage should not generate
more revenue than the capital and operational costs.
Discussion of Vision for the Integrated Infrastructure Implementation Plan,
Louisville FasTracks Station Area & Hwy 42 Corridor
December meeting will be an opportunity to discuss strengths,
weaknesses, threats, and opportunities (SWOT) for the study
area.
Project website will be http://www.the42gateway.com/
Mayor would like to maintain contact and keep participants
engaged from the first workshop.
VIII. Development Referrals
a. Update on Safeway review timing
Two Planning Commission meetings are anticipated in January
2012
