However employees whose pay falls within <br />the new pay range but not below the range would remain eligible for an increase, of up <br />to three percent, based on performance. The cost to fund this option is an additional <br />$160,740 over the $303,900 necessary to provide the traditional compensation strategy <br />utilized in past years of a 1 % cost of living adjustment to full and part-time staff as well <br />as up to a 2.5% merit increase based on performance and a 5% increase for Police <br />Officers and Police Sergeants. <br /> <br />Discussion among Council Members and staff ensured on the merits of paying city <br />employees market wages. There was positive feedback on the proposal as offered and <br />further discussion will continue as the 2008 proposed budget is further refined. <br /> <br />3. City Manager Items - The City Manager went over the following items with the City <br />Council <br />. Advance Meeting Agenda - discussed the upcoming agenda items for the <br />September 4, City Council meeting. Councilor Don Brown stated that the <br />Liquor Authority had requested a study session to discuss potential fee <br />increases. <br />. Meeting Calendar - discussed the October 16, City Council meeting to be <br />held at Monarch High School from 2:00 - 5:00 PM. <br /> <br />4.
