He volunteered for the Louisville Public Access
station and observed the workings of the City with respect to cable television. He felt a
growing and thriving public access station was dismantled and the equipment given to a
private school in Lafayette. He felt the City gave the Franchise Agreement to Comcast
without any input from the citizens and City officials remain silent when presented with
evidence of Comcast's predatory actions. He stood in witness to the City of Louisville's
practice to represent the interest of Comcast Cable Television.
Markiah Friedman, 1286 Doric Drive, Lafayette, CO, Vice-Chair of the CCTV Board of
Directors reported on the new studio in Lafayette. He noted through a cooperative
agreement, all rent and utilities are paid by the school. He explained the last item to be
compliant to their Charter is to appoint Louisville residents to the Board of Directors.
They have an Advisory Board made up primarily of Louisville residents, who started the
access station. He felt they have made a lot of progress in serving Louisville.
COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON THE
AGENDA
No comments.
