<br />City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 2, 2005 <br />Page 5 of 14 <br /> <br />the average of 5% use tax collections, the City of Louisville forfeits approximately <br />$500,000 of consumer use tax revenue per year. <br /> <br />City Manager Simmons explained if the resolution passes, Staff will conduct <br />public information meetings to inform the residents about use tax. The City is <br />also developing a frequently asked questions format for the public. <br /> <br />Council member Marsella expressed her concern the use tax projection may be <br />too low. Council member Van Pelt concurred and stated the City did not want to <br />get into a refund scenario. Sales Tax Coordinator Bolte explained the formula <br />she used to project the use tax revenue. <br /> <br />Council member Van Pelt asked what surrounding communities collect use tax. <br />Sales Tax Coordinator Bolte stated Lafayette, Boulder and Longmont collect use <br />tax. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk asked if a Louisville resident purchased an appliance at the Home <br />Depot in Boulder, and had it delivered to Louisville, would use tax be collected for <br />Louisville. Sales Tax Coordinator Bolte stated if a vendor has a presence in <br />Louisville the tax would be collected. Currently, if a vendor does not have a <br />presence in Louisville the use tax is not collected. <br /> <br />MOTION: Council member Van Pelt moved for approval of Resolution No. 29, <br />2005, seconded by Council member Levihn. All in favor. <br /> <br />2005 CITYWIDE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE - PUBLIC HEARING <br />(advertised Daily Camera 6/09/06 and 7/06/05) continued frorn 7/05/05 & <br />7/12/05 <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk opened the public hearing and requested the emails received from <br />the public be made a part of the record. He requested a Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Planning Director Wood reviewed the emails received from interested parties <br />relative to the Comprehensive Plan Update. He stated his presentation would <br />consist of a brief overview of each Area of Opportunity. He referred to Chapter <br />One and the Framework Plan Map. <br /> <br />Council member Brown asked if the Comp Plan prohibits the entitlements of <br />property owners within the Opportunity Areas. Planning Director Wood stated <br />the entitlements will remain the same and are subject to the Development <br />Guidelines and the provisions of the Louisville Municipal Code. <br /> <br />Opportunity Area #1 <br />Opportunity Area #1 consists of approximately 165 acres of undeveloped land <br />
