Authority Report 2011 (cont.)
The breakdown for the 56 liquor licenses held in the City of Louisville is as
follows:
Hotel & Restaurant 33
Beer &Wine 3
3.2% Beer (Off Premises) 5
Retail Liquor Store 6
Tavern 7
Club 2
Suspected liquor code violations continue to be reviewed on an individual basis by the
Authority as incidents occur. Several incidents were reviewed and determined to require
no further action by the Authority. The Authority continues to encourage license holders
to appear before the Authority to discuss questions and concerns either the licensee or
the Authority might have and what can be done to avoid problems.
The Authority had three Show Cause issues this year.
1- 3) Ralphie's: One incident concerned alleged serving to a visibly intoxicated
person. The second incident addressed a possible violation by serving to a visibly
intoxicated person and conduct of the establishment. The third incident addressed
failure to report a disturbance. Kristin Brown was appointed as Special Prosecutor
and after investigation, presented stipulations on the cases. The licensee admitted
to serving to a visibly intoxicated person on the first two incidents and all other
charges were dismissed. They agreed to a total of a 21 day suspension with 11
days held in abeyance for a service of 10 days total suspension. The licensee, with
their attorney, asked the Authority to pay a fine-in-lieu. The request was granted by
the Authority and the fine ($3,700) was paid by the licensee.
The Authority wishes to extend its gratitude to the Louisville City Council for Council's
ongoing support of the Authority.
Approved by the Louisville Local Licensing Authority this 23rd day of January 2012.
4-44t
Robert Gunning
Chairperson
Local Licensing Authority
AT ST:
Carol Hanson, Deputy City Clerk
3
