Guest: , <br />City Council Member. <br />III.APPROVAL OF CURRENT MEETING’S AGENDA: <br />Approval of the agenda was unanimous. <br />IV.APPROVAL OF NOVEMBER’SMEETING MINUTES: <br />Deferred to the January 2012 meeting. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS NOT ON THE AGENDA: <br />V.None. <br />VI.GMOs on Louisville Open Space Update -Annie <br />Annie was not present so Mark provided a brief update. Marksaid the Commissioners voted 3-0 to <br />allow GMO sugar beets and corn ONLY. Additional GMO crops will be approved on a case by case <br />basis. <br />SusanLoo said that the Commissionerspassed the original cropland policy. Twoboards <br />recommended stricter language, also a citizen’s policy proposednon GMOs.Anniearrived and read <br />thecommissioner’s commentson the decision out loud. <br />Annie said that LSAB isnot meeting with OSAB in January. So many boards are involvedthat the <br />City Manager’soffice will review the issueand then determine which parties need to meet and when. <br />Dave volunteered to talk with the City Manager and ask what process that will be followed. <br />Annie will forward the Boulder County commissioner’s decision to board members.Shethinks a <br />backgroundissue,beyondthe GMO issue and beyond what the public wants, is complicating matters. <br />(Twosurveys were conducted;oneby the countyandanother by an anti GMOgroup.)Annie thinks <br />the issuewill end up as a ballot issue. <br />Annie mentioned that LSABhasbeen attemptingto get on the OSABagenda to discuss GMOs. <br />LSABcould have gonedirectlyto council but wanted to work with other boardson this issue. Andy <br />thought that the topic is a political nerve and it would bebeneficial to go through the City Manager and <br />act together. He suggested that we take this opportunity to learn how to interact with other boards. <br />(Aside discussion of howadvisory boardsoperate was held with Susan Loo. She was surprised that <br />LSABdid not have a formal plan that was submittedto Councileach year forapproved ofour <br />activities.) <br />VII.Community Gardens Update –Mary Ann <br />Mary Ann said the she had contacted Denver Urban Gardensabout providing assistance. They <br />indicated that Louisville was too far for themto work with us.
