29 November 2011
Louisville City Council
749 Main Street
Louisville, CO 80027
Ref: Application for the Ward I City Council Appointment
To the City Council Members:
Enclosed, please find my completed application for the 2012 Ward I City Council
Appointment, along with a copy of my resume. I am a life -long resident of Boulder
County, and my interest in applying for the position stems from my 33+ year
residency within Louisville that began in May of 1978, when I purchased my first
home in the original American Builders neighborhood on West Willow Street (when
the pagers would go off in the middle of church alerting the volunteer firefighters to
head to the station on Main Street, and long before the advent of traffic lights,
Harper Lake, and McCaslin Blvd.).
All four of my children have attended private /public schools in Louisville, with the
oldest graduating from Centaurus (Monarch wasn't built yet), and the other three
from MHS.
In addition to being a regular participant over the years in numerous City events,
I've had an office on Front Street in '07 &'08, and spent 13 years as a volunteer
through Parks and Recreation coaching various youth sports.
There are currently several issues (and no doubt more to come) facing the City that I
believe my business acumen — spanning operations, marketing and finance, would
be of benefit...issues surrounding the budget; large blocks of vacant commercial
retail space; ConocoPhillips; Coal Creek Golf Course improvements; Highway 42
revitalization; etc. I believe my professional background, coupled with a deep desire
to ensure Louisville is the best it can be, would make me a valuable addition to the
city council.
1 look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
13auv,..rjA.,-
David J.
