City Council Water Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />Friday, September 9, 2011 <br />Page 2of 2 <br />ii. 3MG Tank –the Committee was briefed updated on the planned course of <br />action to stabilize and determine a permanent fix for the tank.The tank roof will <br />be stabilized with temporary shoring during the low demand season. While the <br />tank is off-line a consultant will evaluate the remainder of the structure. <br />iii.WGFP –the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) is tentatively <br />scheduled to be released before the end of the year. Additional permitting and <br />agreements (1041, COE404, Carriage Contract, etc…) will followthe release of <br />the FEISand are estimated to take from 6 months to a year. <br />iv.Other –This fall a taste and odor eventarose from an algae bloom in a source <br />water reservoir. A discussion on the causes and the City’s remedial actions for <br />the event took place. The water continues to meet or exceed drinking water <br />standards. <br />IX. New WWTP Permit Implications <br />The City has received a new wastewater treatment plant discharge permit <br />(NPDES). A staff summary of the permit impacts on the City was handed out and <br />posted. A discussion on the short term and long term impacts of meeting the new <br />discharge standards ofthe permit took place. In the first half of 2012 a consultant <br />will be selected to assist the City in complying with new permit. <br />X. Leases Updates –Water Projects <br />A brief discussion took place about potential lease arrangements(under utilized <br />facilities or water) that if proven to be beneficial to the City may be pursued. <br />XI.Background Information <br />City’s ownership interests in local ditches. A short discussion took place about the <br />numerous ditches that the City is shareholder in and how they interact with the <br />City. <br />XII.Agenda Items and Date for Next Meeting. <br />The next meeting will be scheduled after the first of the yearas schedules allow. <br />Items for discussion mayinclude the Facilities Plan (water demands), additional <br />background information on City water rights, and the status of the 3MG Storage <br />tank. <br />XI.Adjourn:The meeting was adjourned at 9:25am. <br />
