Overview of Louisville Open Space properties. <br />FIRE HISTORY ON OPEN SPACE <br />Recorded wildfire history within the city of Louisville began in 2009, when the fire department began <br />reporting their grass and brush fire calls. According to fire department records, there have been <br />approximately 15wildland-typefire calls within the city. The majority of the calls were reported by the <br />address from the party calling in the fire or by cross streets, and only fivewere in close vicinity of open <br />space.The causes of many of the reported fires was unknown, but likely were started by humans. The <br />vast majority of the fires weresmall (less than 300 square feet), but several were upwards of an acre, <br />and outside of the open space, one was as large as 10 acres. The size of the open space parcels combined <br />with theflashy fuelsmeans itis likely that a fire wouldbe extinguished by the homeowner before the <br />fire departmentarrived. <br />2 <br />
