Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />February 13, 2012 <br />Page 4of 7 <br />La Grave stated he agreed with Speier –the historic form is there. He added it would be nice <br />if the funds could be used to bring the missing historical components back. <br />Stewart stated the dormer is the biggest issue for him, but he likes the house –the <br />architectural form and windows are good. He added the social history as a rental is good. <br />Griffin stated the rear of the house is most intriguing. He stated the kitchenis a miner’s shed <br />which was added to the house a while back. <br />Koertje made a motion to approve the landmark application based on the following findings: <br />Architectural Integrity <br />Style is consistent with Louisville Area <br />The structure exemplifies cultural andsocial integrity as a rental unit for miners <br />House should be named Hibler House, after original owner Gasper Hibler. <br />Lewis seconded the motion. <br />Name Vote <br />Mike KoertjeYes <br />Heather LewisYes <br />Jessica FasickYes <br />Florian Speier Yes <br />Aquiles La GraveYes <br />Peter StewartYes <br />Steve PoppitzYes <br />Motion passed:7to 0 <br />Public Hearing –Demolition –801 Walnut Street <br />Robinsonpresented the packet information. <br />There were no questions of staff. <br />The applicant, Tom Preston, presented the proposed plans for the reconstruction of a house <br />on 801 Walnut Street, and stated the following: <br />Originally they had wanted to retain the house to build upon <br />Once the interior walls were opened it was found the structure was built completely of <br />2X4 construction which means it was under-built <br />Foundation is fairly solid and the basement is fine <br />He wants to retain the Walnut Street façade and open up the porch (as it originally was) <br />The chimney will be removed because it is a hazard <br />He will reuse the interior fir floors to remake the cabinets <br />Stewart asked questions regarding the garage addition. <br />
