SeniorAdvisoryBoard <br />Staff Report <br />March20,2012 <br />Theofwork allowsStaffto <br />Phase 2–ExistingConditionsAssessment-secondphase <br />examineand documentthe functioningof thecommunity . . . its physicalcharacteristics,its <br />economicvariables, andregulatoryframework.Afterupdating thecommunity’svisionstatement <br />andcorevaluesinPhase1,staff willconduct amore focused datacollectionand existing <br />conditions assessment.Thesecondphase oftheworkwillidentify thekey trendsandissuesas <br />wellasmapareasofstability and areasof opportunity thatneedcommunitydiscussionandpolicy <br />direction. <br />The,CommunityVisioningand <br />Phase 3– CommunityVisioningandPlan Update-thirdphase <br />Plan Development,bringsCitystaffand thecommunity together toillustratedesiredoutcomesand <br />specificsolutions.Staffwill usetheresultsofPhases1 and2 tofacilitate aninteractivecommunity <br />visioning efforttoupdatethePlan.Staff anticipatesathree-monthlong efforttoupdatetheVision, <br />FrameworkPlan,and policystatements.Staff willinitiate theeffort withaninteractiveworkshop <br />andconclude the effort withacomprehensive feedbackeffortwith thecommunity andallof the <br />City’sBoardsand Commissions. <br />-Staffwillreview thepreliminaryupdateto thePlanwith the <br />Phase 4–CommunityFeedback <br />community andallof theCity’sBoardsand Commissionsin.Issueswillbe tested, <br />phasefour <br />refinedandcompletedwithcommunity feedbackin thefourth phase. <br />- In Staffwillupdate theimplementation <br />Phase5– Documentation andAdoptionphasefive, <br />section oftheComprehensivePlan.This phase of the workeffort will outline theCity’s <br />administration of thePlananddocument theCity prioritiesinimplementing theComprehensive <br />Plan’supdatedcommunityvision.Futureworkitems for the Citycouldinclude: <br />-SmallArea,CorridorandNeighborhoodPlanswhichsupporttheFramework <br />-City-widemulti-modalTransportationMasterPlan <br />-Water,WasteWater,StormWaterOutfallMasterPlans <br />-CharacterZones&FormBaseddesignamendments to the LMC <br />-HeritagePreservationPlan <br />-Development ReviewFiscal&EconomicModel Update <br />REQUEST <br />VisionStatementand Community CoreValues <br />StaffisseekingadiscussionandinputfromtheLouisvilleSeniorAdvisoryBoardregardingthe <br />2009ComprehensivePlan’scurrentVisionStatement.Itisstaff’sopinionthattheVision <br />Statementcanbecommunicatedmore clearly. <br />One wayofclarifying theVisionStatement is to simplify the statement toensure it maintains the <br />essenceof the community’saspirationsandexpandand clarify the vision through clearly stated <br />CoreValues.Staffhasattachedboth the City ofGolden’sandVictoria,British Columbia’sVision <br />Statementsand supporting core values for yourreference.Below find the City’s currentVision <br />Statementwith what staffbelievesare thecorevalueshighlighted.Staff willbringapreliminary <br />nd <br />revisionof theVisionStatementwithorganizedcore values to theMeetingFebruary22. <br />Current CommunityVision(CoreValueshighlighted) <br />Louisvilleisa family-orientedcommunity that blendsasmall townatmospherewitha progressive <br />outlook.Its historic downtown,strongneighborhoods,quality parksandrecreationalfacilities, <br />vibrantcommercial districts andcomprehensivesystemofopenspaceandtrailsdistinguish <br />Louisville fromcitiesinthe northwest Denverregion. <br />The CitywideComprehensivePlanUpdateisintendedtoprovide alongrange(20year)vision for <br />the Cityof Louisville.Itis theexpressintent of thePlan thatLouisvillewillhaveapopulationofno <br />more than approximately23,000residentswithinthecontextofthis20yeartimehorizon. <br />2 <br />PDFcreatedwithpdfFactory trialversionwww.pdffactory.com <br />
