<br />RESOLUTION NO. 69, SERIES 1996 <br /> <br />\ Resolution Stating the City's Intent to Sign the Petition to Join the NCWCD and Municipal Subdistrict <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Louisville's Raw Water Master Plan indicates that the City will require an <br />economical water source to serve local need; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District (NCWCD) can provide water to the <br />City of Louisville for treatment and distribution to the residents of Louisville at an economical rate; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, water from the NCWCD is drawn from a different basin than the City's current supply and <br />can provide an alternative supply during drought years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, NCWCD's larger storage capacity adds security during multi-year droughts; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there are currently approximately 7,300 Louisville properties listed with the Boulder <br />County Assessor's Office; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Louisville owns property within the City boundaries; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, five percent of Louisville property owners must sign petitions for inclusion into the <br />NCWCD and its Municipal Subdistrict; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, approval of the petitions will allow the City to continue to provide economical, high <br />quality water to its citizens. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Louisville, Colorado, <br />does hereby support the City's inclusion into the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District and Municipal <br />Subdistrict and authorizes the Mayor to sign the inclusion petitions on behalf of the City of Louisville.
