Local Licensing Authority <br />Minutes <br />February 27, 2012 <br />Page 3of 5 <br />Holly Davis, 1310 Iris Circle, Broomfield, CO, introduced herself to the Authority <br />and took the oath administered by the Secretary. She stated she did not have a <br />formal presentation but would answer any questions the Authority might have. <br />She reported the restaurant had been open for a few months and the liquor <br />license was being sought to enhance the dining experience for their patrons. <br />Lipton asked if any other employees had attended liquor training. Ms. Davis <br />responded they had not, however, one of the lead servers had previous <br />experience and there was a plan to send servers to a training conducted in <br />Spanish. <br />Authority members asked aboutthe diagram of the licensed premises. <br />Discussion between the applicant and the Authority members clarified where the <br />patio area was and how it would be secured for alcohol service.Ms. Davis <br />answered questions about where liquor was to be stored. <br />Wilsoncalled for any opposition or support from the audience and hearing <br />neither, closed the public hearing. <br />Carlson moved the Local Licensing Authority of the City of Louisvillefind the <br />applicant is of good moral character, the inhabitants of the neighborhood desire <br />the license be granted, the license will meet the reasonable requirements of the <br />neighborhood, all City and State law requirements have been met and, based on <br />these findings, the Local Licensing Authority approve issuance of a Hotel and <br />Restaurant liquor license for La Vida, LLC d/b/a La Buena Vida. Lipton <br />seconded. Roll Call Vote: Lipton –yes, Wilson –yes, Rommelfanger –yes, <br />Gunning –yes and Carlson –yes. New license approved. <br />B.Discussion/Direction –Temporary patios <br />Wilson welcomed Police Chief Goodman. The Chiefwanted to discussthe <br />summer temporary patios at liquor establishments along Main Street. He stated <br />his understanding the tables along the building were considered legal and on the <br />temporary patios was legal, but the area in between (the sidewalk) was not legal <br />for consumption. He was asked about the possibility of moving the walking area <br />to the outside. He responded there was a move to make the patios permanent. <br />He was not convinced this would happen any time soonandwanted to address <br />the current issue. He didn’t feel there had been significant issues with the patios. <br />Sergeant Lanphere wondered if an area in the 800 block of Main could be <br />chained off allowing all the area to the temporary patios beokay for consumption. <br />He mentioned the patios have to close at 12a.m. and the liquor license allows <br />service until 2 a.m. whichsometimes causes issues for the licensees. <br /> <br />
