NOW, THEREFORE, BEIT RESOLVEDBY THE LOUISVILLE CITY <br />COUNCIL AS FOLLOWS: <br />The Louisville City Council hereby adopts the Boulder County Zero- <br />Waste Plan (hereafter referred to as the Plan) asa primary guideline <br />document for identifying strategies and procedures to reduce the <br />volumes of waste materials that are generated by our residents and <br />businesses, and for identifying procedures to increase the diversion of <br />such materials from landfill disposal. <br />City Council hereby directs city staff and relevant city boards and <br />commissionstorefer to the Plan for guidance when they develop <br />policies, programs, and projects that deal with the collection and <br />disposal of waste materials. And in such cases, city staff shall where <br />appropriate, work in a collaborative manner with other local and <br />regional public and private entities. The City's efforts will receive <br />appropriate funding,and seek to effectivelyandefficiently address <br />issues of waste disposal and diversion of waste materials from landfill, <br />by following the guidelines set forth in the Plan,in order to achieve the <br />overall waste-reduction goals set forth in that Plan. <br />Nothing herein shall prevent the City Council,city staff, or city boards <br />from developing or implementing any waste-reduction procedures or <br />practices which may not be enumerated within the Plan. <br />Adopting the Plan will effectively reduce the City’s need to conduct its <br />own separate and redundant studies of which waste-reduction <br />practices might be most effective, and the Plan shall serve as a well- <br />developed guideline for the City of Louisville to implement effective <br />waste-reduction procedures and practices. <br />Page 3of 3 <br />
