City Council <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> May 15, 2012 <br /> Page 2 of 11 <br /> residents in cable and intemet matters, through its long-time collusion with the Greater <br /> Metro Telecommunications Consortium (GMTC) and the Comcast Cable Television <br /> itself. He stated the GMTC is changing from a public company to a private corporation. <br /> The biggest winner of privatizing the GMTC will be the cable television companies and <br /> not the residents of the City of Louisville. He stated he would stand in witness to the <br /> long-time practice of Louisville City officials protecting the interest of a large cable <br /> company and not the interests of the citizens of Louisville. <br /> APPROVAL OF THE CONSENT AGENDA <br /> Mayor Muckle called for changes to the consent agenda and hearing none, moved to <br /> approve the consent agenda, seconded by Councilor Jasiak. Award Contract to Calahan Construction for City Hall 2nd Floor <br /> Improvements <br /> COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON THE <br /> AGENDA <br /> Mayor Muckle announced there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new trail on <br /> the Rock CreeWCoal Creek Trail. The ceremony will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, <br /> May 22 at the Aquarius Trail Head. He reported he, Economic Development Director <br /> DeJong and City Manager Fleming will be attending the ICSC (International Shopping <br /> Center Convention) in Las Vegas, Sunday, May 20 through Tuesday, May 22nd. They <br /> will meet with representatives of current businesses in Louisville and other businesses, <br /> which may desire to locate in Louisville. <br /> CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br /> City Manager Fleming reported on the agenda for the ICSC Conference in Las Vegas, <br /> where they have scheduled meetings with Lowes and Home Depot and will meet with <br /> Walgreens along with several development groups to inquire about their perspective <br /> regarding Louisville. <br /> The City has advertised for a Request for Proposals (RFP) for ideas on how the grain <br /> elevator can be preserved and repurposed. He has appointed an evaluation committee <br /> composed of Deputy City Manager Balser, Economic Development Director DeJong, <br /> Planning Director Russ, Public Relations Manager Muth, Principal Planner McCartney, <br /> and Louisville residents Jean Morgan, Peter Stewart and Mike Koertje. <br /> REGULAR BUSINESS <br />
