Open Space Advisory Board <br />Minutes <br />May 9, 2012 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> Staff is proposing a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the <br />o <br />redesigned parking lot. OSAB and City Council will be invited. The <br />proposed date is May 22. <br /> Staff is currently interviewing for a new administrative assistant. Shawn, the new <br />projects assistant, will start Monday. <br /> Aquarius’ social trail is going to be reseeded next week. <br /> Staff is looking to reformat the Weed Whackers program so that there is more <br />staff leadership. <br />VI. Board Updates <br /> Helen has volunteered to be substitute secretary for June and July, as <br />necessary. <br /> GIS Treasure Hunt / geocache: Ember, Mike and Helen have mounted an <br />additional cache, and they relocated one of the caches to a more hidden location. <br />VII. Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda <br /> Steven Spencer, 531 Treece – <br /> Mr. Spencer lives near Bullhead Gulch, which is the newest open space <br />o <br />property-to-be. <br /> Ember commented that the City has not yet taken over <br />management responsibility from the home builder. <br /> He asked about what the City was planning on planting in this area. He <br />o <br />also noted that there are a number of saplings that have died on the <br />property. <br /> Ember stated that the City has planned to put in native grasses <br />(which will remain un-mown) and xeric plants. She also noted that <br />there will be a visit from the City arborist to address any current tree <br />issue which will then be reported to the Developer. <br /> Mr. Spencer asked about the proposed timeline for the trail that will run <br />o <br />through the property. <br />VIII. Discussion: Study Session with City Council <br />a. Finalize 2011 Accomplishments <br /> Ember has created a power point. <br />b. Finalize 2012 Goals <br /> Edits: <br /> Goal 1: Educate Stakeholders about the Conservation Trust Land <br />o <br />Acquisition Fund <br /> Open Space Open House <br /> Goal 4: Develop and assist with the integrated way finding program, <br />o <br />particularly as applied to open space properties. <br /> <br />
