Open Space Advisory Board Minutes May 9, 2012 Page 2 of 3 Staff is proposing a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the o redesigned parking lot. OSAB and City Council will be invited. The proposed date is May 22. Staff is currently interviewing for a new administrative assistant. Shawn, the new projects assistant, will start Monday. Aquarius’ social trail is going to be reseeded next week. Staff is looking to reformat the Weed Whackers program so that there is more staff leadership. VI. Board Updates Helen has volunteered to be substitute secretary for June and July, as necessary. GIS Treasure Hunt / geocache: Ember, Mike and Helen have mounted an additional cache, and they relocated one of the caches to a more hidden location. VII. Public Comments on Items Not on the Agenda Steven Spencer, 531 Treece – Mr. Spencer lives near Bullhead Gulch, which is the newest open space o property-to-be. Ember commented that the City has not yet taken over management responsibility from the home builder. He asked about what the City was planning on planting in this area. He o also noted that there are a number of saplings that have died on the property. Ember stated that the City has planned to put in native grasses (which will remain un-mown) and xeric plants. She also noted that there will be a visit from the City arborist to address any current tree issue which will then be reported to the Developer. Mr. Spencer asked about the proposed timeline for the trail that will run o through the property. VIII. Discussion: Study Session with City Council a. Finalize 2011 Accomplishments Ember has created a power point. b. Finalize 2012 Goals Edits: Goal 1: Educate Stakeholders about the Conservation Trust Land o Acquisition Fund Open Space Open House Goal 4: Develop and assist with the integrated way finding program, o particularly as applied to open space properties.
