PAGE TWO <br />SUBJECT: UPDATE DISCUSSION- YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD <br />DATE: APRIL 10, 2012 <br />OCTOBER: <br />• October 6, 2011 — Megan Valentine was elected as Chairperson, Joi Wu was elected as <br />Vice -Chair and Brooke Hubbard was elected as Secretary. Brainstormed goals for the <br />upcoming term. <br />• October 24, 2011 — Members volunteered at the Arapahoe YMCA Halloween event. <br />NOVEMBER: <br />• November 3, 2011- The YAB decided to move forward with the Dear Louisville <br />postcard / book as their main project for this term. <br />• November 2011 - Members participated in a Community Food Share Food Drive at <br />King Soopers and collected MANY carts full of food for the local community. <br />DECEMBER: <br />• December 2nd, 2011- Members marched in the Louisville Parade of Lights to advertise <br />the YAB, be seen by a wide variety of people and hand out postcards to promote the <br />Dear Louisville project. <br />• December 15, 2011- YAB members helped with the Louisville Recreation Center's <br />Dessert and Story with Santa event at the Rec. Center. <br />JANUARY: <br />• January 5, 2012- Lynn Wooten, American Cancer Society, attended the YAB meeting <br />and asked for help selling flowers for Daffodil Days, a fund raiser for the American <br />Cancer Society. A bake sale was planned to take place at Medtronic in February for <br />this cause. Work continued on promoting the Dear Louisville project and getting <br />people to turn in their submissions for the book. <br />FEBRUARY: <br />• February 2, 2012- began discussing printing and publicity options for the Dear <br />Louisville project. <br />• February 4, 2012- YAB members assisted with the Louisville Recreation Center's <br />Royal Ball, an event held at the Louisville Center for the Arts. <br />• February 15, 2012- Sold daffodil orders and baked goods at Medtronic in Louisville to <br />raise funds for the American Cancer Association <br />MARCH: <br />• March 1, 2012- Scott Robinson from the City Planning Department visited our meeting <br />and spoke about the process of updating the city's Comprehensive Plan. The YAB <br />was invited to attend future Planning Commission and Community City Council <br />meetings to learn and participate more in this process. <br />• March 15, 2012- Members volunteered at the St. Patrick's Day dinner for seniors at the <br />Recreation & Senior Center <br />
