City Council
Meeting Minutes
June 5, 2012
USE TAX CODE — 1ST READING — SET PUBLIC HEARING 6/19/2012
Mayor Muckle requested a City Attorney introduction.
City Attorney Light read Ordinance No.1616, Series 2012.
MOTION: Mayor Muckle moved to approve Ordinance No. 1616, Series 2012 on first
reading, ordered it published and set a public hearing for June 19, 2012, seconded by
Council member Jasiak. All were in favor.
APPOINTMENT TO THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
Mayor Muckle reported notice was received from a qualified professional member of the
Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) resigning his seat effective May 21, 2012.
The HPC hears landmark and grant applications and staff requested the vacant position
be filled so public hearings will not be delayed due to a lack of quorum. City Manager
Fleming stated the HPC is required to have at least 5 members and 40% of those
members must be professionals in preservation related disciplines. Three of the current
members meet this requirement. Adding a fourth member meeting this requirement
would help ensure the commission is able to reach a quorum with the required minimum
number of preservation professionals. If approved by the City Council, this appointment
would last until the end of 2012 when the appointee may reapply for a full term.
Mayor Muckle reported there were 2 applicants meeting the professional qualifications.
Mayor Muckle called for public comment and hearing none called for Council comment.
COUNCIL COMMENT
Council member Loo felt Kirk Watson had a long history of working on these issues in
Boulder County.
Kirk Watson introduced himself to Council and said he served two years on Landmarks
Preservation Advisory Board in Boulder.
Mayor Muckle moved Council appoint Kirk Watson to fill the Historic Preservation
Commission position and consider the other candidate to fill another position at a later
date. Mayor Pro Tem seconded. All in favor.
CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT
No report this evening.
