City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />May 22, 2012 <br />Page 3of7 <br />In conclusion: <br />The LCC finds that it competes for space at the Louisville Arts Center, but <br />pointed out that all groups are providing art and theater events to the community. <br />Given the diminishing support from SCFD, should this be a primary focus of the <br />LCC? Is the LCC able to garner more support for their organization? The LCC <br />asked if City Council could give them more money in the upcoming budget cycle. <br />LCC would like to brainstorm to set future goals and mission, should they be <br />doing something different? The LCC would then like to come back at a future <br />Council Study Session and present their recommendations to Council. <br />Comments /Questions: <br />• Mayor Pro Tem Dalton requested the LCC put in writing their specific <br />budget request for 2013. <br />• Mayor Pro Tem Dalton supports the LCC's desire to hold their own study <br />session. <br />• Councilmember Sackett said that he would hate to see a ceiling put on a <br />budget request. "Go for it." <br />• Councilmember Jasiak appreciates events that are geared towards the <br />family, and appreciates the LCC's eye for targeting different age groups. <br />• Mayor Muckle loves everything past and present the LCC has done, and <br />supports their desire to restructure. <br />• Councilmember Yarnell said the LCC is a thoughtful and insightful group <br />and a joy to work with, and appreciates the LCC's willingness to question <br />their identity. <br />• City Manager Fleming extended his thanks for all the events; fantastic job <br />on Friday evening concerts, and extended his appreciation to the <br />members for their volunteer efforts. <br />• Mayor concluded by thanking the LCC for all their work. <br />Update /Discussion — Horticulture and Forestry Advisory Board (HFAB) <br />Mike Frontczak presented on behalf of the Board their 2011 Accomplishments, <br />2012 Goals and Progress -To -Date. <br />HFAB's basic mission is to be a guardian to the Louisville Arboretum and to <br />fundraise for Friends of the Arboretum, a 501(c) 3 organization. The group would <br />like to raise additional funds and earmark the funds for a specific purpose. <br />HFAB's Responsibilities: <br />• Represent the community on public landscape projects. <br />
