They wanted to add an additional
1,300 square feet if possible.
Stewart asked staff for clarification on where the garage may be accessed and placed.
McCartney explained how the Louisville Municipal Code addresses access and placement.
Baxter explained they wanted to place the garage on the western side of the property to try
and maintain the existing trees.
Koertje asked if there was a garage on the property now.
Baxter answered no. He then asked who owned the ditch.
McCartney stated he believed the City owned the land. He stated he would check with the
Public Works Department to confirm.
Stewart commended the applicant on their sensitivity to the existing house. He added the
HPC can assist with some ideas of garage placement and will double check the municipal
code as it relates to the setback requirement. He stated that even though the property has two
street fronts, the Lincoln Avenue street face is the most important.
The group continued to discuss other design options on the draft site plan. Discussion ensued
regarding saving the trees.
Fasick asked if the existing honey locusts were healthy enough to save.
Baxter stated he had an arborist check them out and they were healthy.
Koertje stated it sounded like they were on the right track.
Stewart thanked them for the discussion and asked for staff to connect them.
Update – Austin Niehoff RFP
McCartney presented the attached memo and gave an update. He stated he was going
to meet a group of candidates for a tour of the house on Tuesday, January 10, 2012.
He added the RFP process will be as follows:

Applications received on January 18, 2012

Review committee will narrow down applicants to top 3 candidates.

Review committee will interview candidates.

A matrix will be created for the scoring of the candidates.

Top candidate will then be presented to Council for acceptance of the contract.
