<br />3 <br />Unscheduled Visitor: Barbara Newland* met with the HFAB Board to present a plan for <br />working to beautify Louisville and create an awareness of Huntington’s Disease**, and raise <br />funds for research. She has two adult children at risk for this disease. Barbara’s plan is in <br />beginning stages; she visited HFAB to see if her project might come under the auspices of <br />HFAB or the Louisville Arboretum. She and a team of volunteers would maintain all beds <br />created through donations. <br />VII.Youth Advisory Board Project <br />Meredith proposed working with the 15 teens on the Youth Advisory Board to film, <br />edit and produce a program to create public awareness of the Arboretum on Channel 8. <br />She also suggested the need for HFAB branding, another project for an artist on the <br />Youth Advisory Board. <br />VIII.CIP Request – Bathrooms @ Arboretum/Skate Park <br />Dean announced that there is already a request for a bathroom in the Rec Center <br />Campus budget, the cost of which is $150,000. <br />There was also discussion about the need for a new multi-purpose field in Louisville. <br />IX.Discussion – Business Signs and Trees <br />Signage and appropriate trees for business landscaping were discussed. Dean will check <br />on existing codes. Signage for the Arboretum was also discussed. <br /> This discussion will remain on the agenda for the next regular meeting. <br />X.Recreation Center Landscape Renovation <br />Dean Johnson reported that the Rec Center Landscape Renovation is on schedule, to be <br />finished 7/1 <br />XI.Fundraising and Outreach opportunities <br /> Beverlee reported that the Oskar Blues/Empire Lounge date will be Tuesday, September <br />th <br />186-8 pm .It was agreed to have a $25/person ticket price. Beverlee will obtain a press <br />release from Oskar Blues for the publicity, and logo’s from The Empire and Oskar Blues <br />for the flyer. Processing reservations by credit card was discussed with no conclusion. <br />th <br />The Friends of the Arboretum will meet July 17 7:00 pm at The Empire to work on and <br />finalize the details of this event. <br /> XII. The Meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm.
