<br />17.56.240 Appeals. <br />17.56.250 Flood proofing. <br />17.56.260 Compliance documentation. <br /> <br />17.56.010 Definitions. <br /> <br />The following definitions shall apply to this chapter: <br /> <br />1. "Appeal" means a request for a review of the director's <br />interpretation of any provision of this chapter or a request for a <br />variance. <br /> <br />2. "Area of shallow flooding" means an area designated on the FIRM <br />map as an AH or AD zone with a one percent or greater annual <br />chance of flooding to an average depth of one to three feet where <br />a clearly defined channel does not exist, where the path of <br />flooding is unpredictable and where velocity flow may be evident. <br />Such flooding is characterized by ponding or sheet flow. <br /> <br />3. "Area of special flood hazard" means the land in the floodplain <br />subject to a one percent or greater chance of flooding in any <br />given year. <br /> <br />4. "Base flood" means the flood having a one percent chance of <br />being equalled or exceeded in any given year. <br /> <br />5. "Board of Adjustment" means the Board of Adjustment <br />established pursuant to Chapter 17.48 of this title. <br /> <br />6. "Channel" means that area of a watercourse where water <br />normally flows and not that area beyond where significant <br />vegetation exists. <br /> <br />7. "Development" means any man made change to improved or <br />unimproved real estate, including but not limited to buildings or <br />other structures, mining, dredging, filling, grading, paving, <br />excavation or drilling operations located within the area of special <br />flood hazard. <br /> <br />8. "Director" means the director of planning of the City of Louisville <br />or the director's designee. <br /> <br />2 <br />
