City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 7, 2012 <br />Page 3 of 18 <br />COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON THE <br />AGENDA <br />Mayor Muckle reported on a bakery in CTC, who won an award from the Boulder Green <br />Business Consortium. This bakery applies photographic images on cakes. <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br />City Manager Fleming reported on the following: <br />• The City is requesting residents to submit photos of the City for the "Life in <br />Louisville Photo Contest ". The deadline to submit photos is September 12. <br />• The Recreation Center will be closed for maintenance from August 13 through <br />August 20. Members may use the Lafayette Recreation Center during that time. <br />• City Manager Fleming sent an email regarding the recent GMTC meeting, where <br />a staff member voted to move forward with consideration of a non - profit <br />organization. A non - profit organization throughout the state may be more <br />beneficial. He thanked Mr. Sobel for his assistance for better notice on channel <br />lineup changes and rate increases to subscribers. <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br />BI- MONTHLY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UPDATE <br />Mayor Muckle requested a staff presentation. <br />Economic Development Director DeJong reported on the economic developments for <br />June and July as follows: <br />• The City was awarded a $19,000 USDA Grant for a study of a food - centric <br />business incubator. Staff is developing an RFP for a consultant to do the study. <br />• Staff continues to work with Phillips 66 on the Louisville property and <br />coordinating efforts with the State Economic Development Office and the <br />Govemor's Office. <br />• A new 12,500 SF multi- tenant building is being constructed in the Colorado <br />Technology Center at 638 Taylor Avenue. <br />• A new business, the Singing Cook, will be opening on the 700 block of Main <br />Street. There is interest in developing new retail business in the downtown area. <br />• Altan Alma Organics plans to create a year -round outdoor farmer's market. <br />• The 2013 CIP budget includes items for small retail area plans for South Boulder <br />Road and McCaslin Boulevard. <br />Council member Jasiak asked if the businesses looking to locate downtown are retail or <br />commercial. Economic Development Director DeJong noted they are retail. <br />
