ENVISION LOUISVILLE - CHARRETTE WEEK <br />2012 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE <br />AUGUST 27TH - AUGUST 30TH <br />LOUISVILLE CITY HALL -749 MAIN STREET <br />It's your community...help plan it! <br />Circle the week of August 27th on your calendar! The City of Louisville will lead a week long <br />charrette as part of the 2012 Comprehensive Plan Update. You may be wondering, 'What <br />on earth is a charrette?" Good question. A charrette is a collaborative community planning <br />and design process that brings stakeholders together in intensive work sessions to develop <br />plans for their community. The City of Louisville Planning Department will facilitate the <br />charrette and compile the input and ideas into a report that will be presented at the end of <br />the week. The schedule is as follows; <br />Day One - Monday, August 27th <br />6:30 — 8:30 PM - Kick -off meeting and community planning exercise <br />City Staff will lead an overview of the comp plan process and existing conditions throughout <br />the City. Members of the public will be asked to participate in an interactive planning <br />exercise and present their findings to the group. <br />Day Two - Tuesday, August 28th <br />1:00 — 5:00 PM - Open House <br />Day two is spent working in an open house format. City Staff will review the public <br />comments from the previous night's session and outline the specific work products needed <br />to translate the public's conceptual vision into the Comprehensive Plan. The public is <br />encouraged to come and visit with City Staff during this process. <br />6:00 — 8:00 PM - Focus group sessions <br />City Staff will meet with smaller working groups to focus on specific areas of interest in the <br />City. The focus areas will be the McCaslin Corridor, The South Boulder Road Corridor, and <br />the City's neighborhoods. Invitations to participate will be extended to stakeholders in each <br />of these areas, but the public is also invited to attend. <br />Day Three - Wednesday, August 29th <br />1:00 — 5:00 PM Open house and staff work session <br />The team will continue developing the Comprehensive Plan Products and begin to refine <br />and test alternative urban design concepts and land use scenarios for the City. Interested <br />stakeholders and the public are encouraged and welcome to work with project designers in <br />the Workshop's open house format. <br />Day Four - Thursday, August 30th <br />6:30 — 8:00 PM - Presentation of findings <br />Day four is spent working and preparing for the evening presentation. The team will finalize <br />products and prepare the Comprehensive Plan elements for presentation to the public. The <br />public will be given the opportunity to understand how conceptual ideas generated in the <br />day one workshop are translated to specific action items and components of the Compre- <br />hensive Plan.
