Cultural Council
Meeting Minutes
August 16, 2012
Mission at Old Town Cinema, is to work with other arts groups such
as Art Underground and the Colorado Film Society to create a space
where thoughtful films can be seen as a community. With each
screening, we provide pre- and post -film programming that includes
talkbacks with guest speakers, and often the filmmakers themselves.
Her goal is to kick start an old time theater with 4 screenings this fall at the
Steinbach Pavilion with the showing of Rails, a haunting tale of friendship
and secrets, September 29. The OTC would like to do more than the 4
screenings. Other venues would be the community park in the summer and
possibly the Arts Center in the winter.
The films selected attract a lot of people to come see high quality and less
played independent and art -house films that they didn't get to see because
the movie wasn't in the theatre long.
Denice to check if there is an ordinance for sound because movie would be
after 8 pm at the Steinbaugh Pavilion. And If the LCC could participate, then
we might be able to allow the cinema to use the Pavilion at no charge.
Budget expense: $1200 - $1600 per show i.e. film rights.
• Carolyn Bosshard, The Art Underground.
The Art Underground has received approval from the city for a new Art
Center to be located in the Steel Ranch development.
