Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />August 20, 2012 <br />Page 6of 10 <br />Stewart stated the accents on the columns and trims, shown in the historical photos, <br />lend some character to the house. <br />More discussion ensued regarding how the resolution should be drafted. The HPC <br />believes it is important the City Council understand all the HPC reviews. <br />Koertje recommended approval of this request, with amendments to the resolution. <br />Fasick seconded the motion. <br />Motion approved 4 to 0. <br />Discussion –Grain Elevator Update <br />Robinson presented the information presented in the packet. He then introduced Aaron <br />DeJong, Economic Development Director. <br />DeJongintroduced himself and his experience, specifically relating to historical <br />preservation. He stated anactive downtownis what makes a community vibrant. He <br />believes the City of Louisville has a very vibrant and active downtown. He then gave a <br />background of the Grain Elevator and how it got to the proposal which was recently <br />reviewed by City Council. He explained how the current proposal has been canceled <br />and how the alternative proposal, for the City to purchase the structure, will be <br />presented tomorrow night at City Council. <br />Stewart asked DeJongto give details on the options being reviewing by City Council. <br />DeJonggave a background of the options being reviewed by City Council. The current <br />purchase price would be $925,000 with a $25,000 down-payment. <br />Stewart asked about the demolition permit status. <br />DeJongstated there has not been a demolition permit issued at this point. <br />Stewart added the applicant has 180 days to pay for the demolition permit then would <br />have an additional 180 days to act on the permit once the permit is issued. <br />Questions were asked regarding the details of how the initial $950,000 would be <br />funded.DeJonganswered those details. <br />Stewart stated there is a desire of the HPC to be involved with this process, which <br />would provide some credibility to this proposal. <br />DeJonganswered why the proposal was handled the way it was, especially when there <br />was such a tight timeline. <br />Public Comment – <br />
