STREET & SIDEWALK REPAIRS
Let us know how did we did? The Public Works
Department is conducting a survey to help
determine how our 2011 Street Repair and Concrete
Replacement Project went. Specifically, we would like
your feedback regarding how well we communicated
with residents about work that affected either your home
or your neighborhood. Your comments will help us
improve our communications process for future projects.
Please take the survey available through the City web site
at www.LouisvilleCO.gov. Your input is appreciated.
WATER SYSTEM FACILITIES PLAN
We are excited to announce that the City of Lou -
isville Water System Facilities Plan is under-
way. Department of Public Works staff
is currently evaluating the water system
and developing a road map to prioritize
and schedule important water projects.
While we are still in the preliminary
stages of developing this plan, we do
know we will be asking for your participation in upcom-
ing months at a public meeting and on a survey that we
will be distributing concerning this important facili-
ties plan. Look for more information in January on the
City's web site (www.LouisvilleCO.gov).
Does your street or sidewalk need repair? The
City tries to keep track of areas that need repair
and keep them on a list for future work, but we can't
review every street and sidewalk each year. If you know
of a curb or sidewalk that exhibits signs of settlement
greater than 3/4 -inch and pose a safety hazard or that ex-
hibit excessive cracking and fragmentation, please let us
know. Please e -mail the location, and a photo if you have
one, to PWorks@LouisvilleCO.gov. We can't guarantee
it will be on the 2012 repair list, but we will put it on
the list for consideration.
POTHOLE HOT LINE
With Winter upon us and
snow in the air, now is a
good time to remember the City's
pothole hot line. You may report
those pesky potholes via e -mail
at ReportAPothole@LouisvilleCO.gov or by calling
303.335.4750. Please be sure your message includes the
location of the pothole and the time and date of your
call. In the case of emergency pothole repairs, please call
303.489.2301. City staff will respond to pothole issues
within 24 hours of being contacted.
A FRIENDLY REMINDER TO KEEP YOUR SIDEWALKS CLEAR
W e like to remind homeowners, both as a cour-
tesy and for the safety of those using the side-
walk, that you are REQUIRED to keep your sidewalks
clear to allow walkers, runners, and children complete
access to the sidewalk. This requirement includes all of
the following:
Shovel your walk in a timely manner
after a snow storm. City code requires
that your sidewalks be cleared of snow
and ice within 24 hours after it stops
snowing. You don't have to shovel in the
middle of a blizzard, but be sure to get it done soon after
it stops snowing. If you plan to be out of town in the
winter, it is helpful to have a neighbor or friend on call
to clear your walk in your absence.
Clear any low hanging branches or
other garden materials that have grown
into the sidewalk. Pedestrians should be
able to walk without trees and shrubs forc-
ing them to walk in the street or to duck
under branches. Additionally, if you live at
an intersection, please be sure to clear any
trees that block the sight line of cars turning the corner.
Trash cans and recycling containers should
NOT be on the sidewalk for pick up; instead,
place them in the street at the curb, away
from driveways and mailboxes.
We appreciate everyone's help in making
our sidewalks both safer and easier to use.
Thank you.
Winter 2011 - 2012
