1=im LIBRARY & MUSEUM NEWS ma. <br />PROGRAMS & EVENTS <br />STORY TIME CHANGES <br />Beginning September 6, the Library will <br />be offering a New Mother Goose Story Time <br />for babies up to 18 months. At 10 AM every <br />Wednesday and Thursday, Mother Goose <br />Story Time will be immediately followed by <br />Toddler Story Time at 10:30 AM and Pre- <br />school Story Time at 11 AM. Bring the family to the Library <br />for engaging, age- appropriate story times designed to support <br />early literacy and language skills. There's something fun for <br />everyone! For exact dates and times, please check the web site <br />or call 303.335.4821. <br />TEEN TUESDAYS: AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM <br />Tuesdays beginning September 4, from 3:30 -4:30 PM, <br />kids age 9 -12 should head over to the Library prepared for <br />anything! There will be crafts, food challenges, contests, <br />games, or experiments. Every week will be something new <br />and different just for older kids! <br />CELEBRATE TEEN READ WEEK 2012, OCTOBER 14-20 <br />"1T GAME FROM THE LIBRARY" <br />Teen Read Week is a time to celebrate reading for fun <br />and encourage teens to take advantage of reading in all its <br />forms —books and magazines, eBooks, audiobooks and <br />more —and become regular library users. Some topics are: water quality and your health; <br />nontraditional therapy for autism; strengthening reading <br />confidence in children; adoption; understanding Medicare; <br />and African singing on the plaza. Check the Library web site <br />or Facebook page for more information. <br />ON THE SAME PAGE <br />This year's On The Same Page (OTSP) program kicks off <br />in September with programming and book discussion groups. <br />The book, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night -Time <br />by Mark Haddon, is about a mathematically gifted, autistic <br />fifteen -year old boy, who decides to investigate the murder <br />of a neighbor's dog and uncovers secret information about <br />his mother. Check the OTSP blog: www.otsp3cities.com for <br />more information. <br />JEWISH STORY TIME <br />The Library has partnered with the Boulder Jewish Com- <br />munity Center (JCC) to offer a special series of story times <br />about Jewish culture and heritage. JCC received a Roots and <br />Branches Grant from Rose Community Foundation to do- <br />nate 100 books to the Library and to conduct these monthly <br />story times. Check the Library web site for complete details. <br />HISTORICAL MUSEUM <br />Thursday, September 6 ❖ 12 - 1 PM •• Brown Bag Talk <br />"Louisville Polio Epidemics of the 1940s & 1950s" Bring <br />your lunch to the Library meeting room and join the infor- <br />mal discussion. <br />NEWS & INFORMATION <br />LIBRARY MOBILE APP COMING SOON <br />Beginning this fall, you will be able to <br />renew your library materials, place a book on <br />hold, or find out about programs using the <br />Library's new mobile app. Check the Library <br />web site in the coming weeks or contact the <br />Reference Desk at 303.335.4820 for more information. <br />SEEKING LEGO DONATIONS <br />The Library is seeking donations of LEGOs for its forth- <br />coming LEGO Club and board games for Tween Tuesdays. <br />If your kids are all grown up and their LEGOs and games are <br />just sitting in the basement or garage, please consider donat- <br />ing them to the Library. Call 303.335.4821 for more infor- <br />mation. <br />MOVIES AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD <br />The Library has over 1,000 movies that you can down- <br />load— through OverDrive —to your PC or device that plays <br />WMV (Windows Media Video) file formats. <br />LOUISVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION <br />Did you know the Louisville Public Library has a Foun- <br />dation whose sole mission is to strengthen and support our <br />Library? Many of our materials and programs are funded <br />with private donations. Private gifts are an important revenue <br />source for the Library, and help make our Library one of the <br />hallmarks of our City.
