<br />RESOLUTION NO. 60 <br />SERIES 1995 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, each municipality in Boulder County desires to create a sustainable environment which <br />preserves the region's core values and qualities for generations to come; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, each municipality recognizes that the elements of a sustainable environment in Boulder County <br />included, at a minimum a vital economy, a strong education system, a healthy and safe <br />citizenry, a commitment to preserving the natural landscape, and diverse housing opportunities; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, within the framework for a sustainable regional environment, each municipality in Boulder <br />County seeks to encourage a mix of commercial activity and residential housing opportunities <br />that is consistent with this independent identity; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, each municipality in Boulder County understands that the cooperation of local governments is <br />essential to the achievement of our goals for a sustainable regional environment and the <br />independent vision for each community. <br /> <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE City Council of the City of Louisville, Colorado, that we <br />recognize the impact that local community decisions and activities can have on the entire Boulder County <br />region and are committed to cooperative measures that will help to alleviate these impacts, including: <br /> <br />1) Concentrating new residential and commercial development in the planning area of our community and <br />exploring the opportunity to define the urban boundaries of our community as a defense against <br />"sprawl" ; <br /> <br />2) Striving to create and integrated regional transportation system that is efficient, environmentally <br />sensitive, and meets the mobility demands of citizens within our community; <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />3) Pursuing the development and preservation of open space within the City of Louisville that provides <br />mutual aesthetic and recreational benefits in conjunction with other local communities; <br /> <br />4) Attempting to bring the above efforts to fruition through a series of intergovernmental agreements. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of October, 1995. <br /> <br />~ D?V-~ <br /> <br />Tom Davidson, Mayor <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />
