Business Retention & Development Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />September 4, 2012 <br />Page 4 of 4 <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIEFING <br />– Aaron DeJong <br /> Colorado Technology Center – The Colorado Tech Center Metro District, after a successful <br />refinancing of their bonds, has the funding capability to make improvements to the area. A process to <br />brainstorm ideas will be underway for improving the Tech Center that will make the area more viable <br />and encourage additional development. <br /> New Scrapbooking Store on McCaslin – to be located in the old Checker Auto Parts building at 525 <br />McCaslin. A 5-year lease was executed for the 13,000 square foot store. <br /> Steel Ranch South Development – Confluence Builders will soon be starting the luxury apartment <br />project at Steel Ranch South. Estimated construction cost is $36 million to create 228 new units. The <br />complex will have 108 one-bedroom units with an average rent of $1,200 and the 12 two-bedroom <br />units will rent for about $1,600. <br /> Downtown Updates – Altan Alma has constructed the small buildings on their leased property on <br />Front Street where local produce and products will be sold. <br /> Grain Elevator – the City has taken over the purchase contract. A referendum petition filed against <br />the funding of the Grant Agreement with Amterre Property Group caused Amterre to walk away. The <br />City taking over the purchase agreement keeps the building from being demolished until the end of <br />November. <br /> Safeway Redevelopment – Loftus Development has officially submitted new plans for the former <br />Safeway property. The plan calls for approximately 100 apartments and 30,000 square feet of retail <br />space. Alfalfa’s Market is the main interested tenant for a majority of the retail space. This will go to <br />Planning Commission first and then to Council in the November timeframe. <br />REPORTS FROM COMMITTEE MEMBERS <br />– <br /> Shelley Angell, Chamber, announced the Business Showcase sponsored by the Louisville and <br />th <br />Lafayette Chambers to be held on September 26, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Gatehouse in Lafayette. <br />DISCUSSION ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING <br /> Finish Comprehensive Plan discussion <br /> Brainstorm potential improvements to the CTC by the Metro District. <br />The meeting adjourned at 9:29 a.m. <br />ADJOURN – <br /> <br />
