Draft Louisville Open Space Management Plan - Ms. Lair provided an overview of
the planning process and noted that LOSCAB should consider providing additional
comments on wildlife resources and wildlife management.
Mr. Jones opened the floor for public comment.
Doug Grinbergs, Louisville resident.— Mr. Grinbergs said it appeared the LOSCAB was
taking an anti - prairie dog stance based on the recommendations in the Open Space plan
and needed to take a more pro - wildlife stance.
Jim Cummings, Louisville resident — Mr. Cummings noted that we need more focus on
plant restoration, and moving properties from Visitor to Preserve and Protect categories.
Mr. Cummings also feels that Louisville must provide more input into the management
plans for the jointly -owned properties. He also said we need to "not just tolerate, but to
desire" prairie dogs on specific lands (especially Daughenbaugh and Davidson Mesa),
that we need to reconcile how we deal with prairie dogs on smaller parcels, and that we
should be looking at new metal barriers for prairie dog management.
Rob Scott — Mr. Scott commented again that he would like the northwest part of
Davidson Mesa left open and that the LOSCAB shouldn't base its recommendations on
the views of one consultant (i.e., ESCO.)
Matt Jones asked that the LOSCAB receive a red -lined version of the plan prior to the
Nov. 3, 2003 meeting and that an updated trails map be included.
The LOSCAB anticipates making final recommendations on the plan for submission to
City Council at the Nov. 3 meeting.
Adjournment
Meeting adjourned at 10:10pm.
The next meeting of the Louisville Open Space Citizens Advisory board will be held on
Nov. 3, 2003 at 7:OOpm at the Louisville Public Library.
