John Kelber added that he is willing to water the transplanted trees until they get established.
Heidi Ochis wondered if Public Service had agreed to the transplant since it is technically in their
410 right -of -way.
John Kelber stated that the move had been OK'd.
•
Concern was raised about the continued maintenance of the trees.
Brad Chromowski said the City was committed to their maintenance.
Bob Muckle voiced concern about planting in open space areas for an individual's benefit. He can for
see the Board recommending the removal of bad plantings and is wondering if the Board will be
willing to reverse its decision once the inventory/land categorization has been complete. He is
worried that we are setting a bad precedent in this case.
Steve Baysinger stated that he wouldn't have a problem if the inventory dictated the removal of the
trees. As far as setting a precedent, he said he didn't see that as a problem. He recommended approval
of the move.
Pat Hornbostel mentioned that the corridor will probably fall into the least restrictive areas, so didn't
have an issue with the move.
Matt Jones reminded the Board that Dave Weber( ?) of the Colorado division of Wildlife had
suggested not even doing an inventory on that particular stretch of open space. He concurred that the
land will probably be categorized within the least restrictive management areas.
A motion was made to agree to the move /replanting of John Kelber's trees.
All members were in favor.
Next agenda item: Budget review
LOSCAB was grated a $20,000 budget for next year. The County has also committed to $20,000
bringing the total budget to $40,000. This number is short of the needed funds to perform a complete
open space inventory. If the City receives the proposed GOCO grant funds, this deficit would be
remedied.
Steve Baysinger made 2 future meeting suggestions:
1) He will try to get a bigger room secured for the meetings
2) Public comment needs to be confined to a time limit.
Adjournment
The agenda for the next meeting was confirmed:
November 13th:
Plant list revised
Fragmentation analysis discussion
7.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:20 pm.
