Development of Plant Management Guidelines for Community Park <br />Theresa has completed the text portion of the guidelines. Lise is working on <br />plant photos of all the shrubs, grasses, and perennials to accompany the text. <br />The plan is to give laminated copies of the text with photos for identification <br />purposes to park maintenance crews. <br />Theresa will talk to Kathy Kron about replacement of the dead boxwoods in the <br />park. <br />No news on the new City horticulture position. <br />IX. Residential Landscape Design Guidelines <br />Discussion of using park plant management guidelines as a template for new <br />residential guidelines. It was suggested that the residential guidelines could be <br />put on HFAB's web page, along with a link to the CSU Extension fact sheets. <br />The question of whether these guidelines can be applied and /or enforced in new <br />residential developments was discussed. Mike will check with Chris to see if the <br />Planning Commission would be willing to incorporate guidelines in their process. <br />X. Development of HFAB web page <br />• Fred has volunteered to work with Meredith on developing the web page. <br />• <br />XI. HFAB Award <br />Discussion of recognition /appreciation of Rotary Club's contributions to the Xeric <br />Garden during the Community Park dedication. Theresa will ask Chris about <br />possibility of presenting after the opening remarks on April 29. <br />XIII. City Council Meeting <br />No progress on scheduling time at a Council meeting to present Arboretum and <br />HFAB updates. <br />Discussion of how Council stays informed about activities of the various City <br />boards. It was suggested that a member of HFAB could appear in the public <br />comment portion of City Council meetings, in order to raise awareness of the <br />Arboretum and other HFAB activities. <br />XIV. McCaslin /Hwy. 36 Interchange <br />Bridge over Hwy 36 is tentatively scheduled to open in May. <br />XV. Median Reconstruction at Via Appia and Nighthawk Circle <br />Discussion of tree choices and use of rock mulch. <br />XVI. The meeting was adjourned at 8:28 pm. <br />
